Better Education Creates Better Jobs

Be The Change Volunteers is a development aid non-profit dedicated to creating better education opportunities worldwide. We believe that better education creates better jobs, and a better job is the only way out of poverty.

We don’t simply send funding. We partner with remote communities to address their infrastructure, equipping and training needs, with an on-site, in-depth needs assessment that finds long-term solutions, completed in phases over time. Teams of self-funded volunteers we call Changers travel to work alongside them.

All general gifts to BTCV are used to achieve the greater mission of creating better education opportunities.

With $531,026 in total funding and $524,910 invested, 2024 was a year of meaningful progress. Nearly every dollar went directly to building schools, supporting volunteers, and creating opportunities for children in need.

    BTCV Kids sponsors pool their generous gifts to support selected students from primary school through college. We ask each program donor for $1,000 a year, and gifts of any amount help.

    Changer Sender

    Many Changer Senders served on BTCV trips themselves and now send someone else. $2,500 covers a volunteer Changer’s full ground expenses and required participation fees; $5,000 covers their flights too.

    $10,000+ Beyond Participation Costs

    Legacy Donor

    Legacy gifts, beyond the cost of joining a project, fund entire classrooms, which cost $10,000 to $50,000 on average, as well as bathrooms, security walls and playgrounds. Many BTCV projects would not be possible without them.

Give for the Next Generation

  • Giving From Your IRA

    The IRA Charitable Rollover, also known as a Qualified Charitable Distribution, lets you give your Required Minimum Distribution to charity and keep it out of your taxable income. Donating it to the BTCV Sustainability Fund may reduce your tax bill and supports effective, sustainable programs for students and teachers worldwide. Contact your plan administrator to get started.
