Every child seen, valued, and supported
The BTCV-SPED initiative officially launched in 2023 under the leadership of dedicated volunteers Maddy Licocci and Bailey Womble. While the program is new in name, our commitment is not—Be The Change Volunteers has supported individuals with disabilities since the organization's earliest days.

At BTCV, we believe access, awareness, and opportunity are fundamental rights for all children, including those with differing abilities. Through BTCV-SPED, our teams collaborate closely with each partner community to take meaningful steps toward inclusion in ways that are culturally appropriate, respectful, and sustainable. Because every community is unique, inclusion may look different from place to place—but the goal remains the same: ensuring every child is seen, valued, and supported.
What guides us
Access, awareness, and opportunity
Access
Removing the barriers that keep children with differing abilities out of the classroom.
Awareness
Helping each community recognize, understand, and embrace every learner.
Opportunity
Inclusion that is culturally appropriate, respectful, and built to last.
